About CyberWater
CyberWater2 is an NSF-funded cyberinfrastructure project that is developing an open, community-driven platform for water science modeling. By integrating diverse datasets, hydrologic models, and high-performance computing into a unified workflow environment, CyberWater2 enables researchers, educators, and students to build, execute, and share reproducible computational workflows with minimal programming. The project aims to reduce the time and effort required for hydrologic modeling while making computational research more reproducible–this allows researchers to focus more on scientific discovery and less on managing technical workflows.
CyberWater2 is developed through a collaboration among the University of Pittsburgh, Indiana University Indianapolis, CUAHSI, and partner institutions. Learn more about CyberWater here.
CyberWater2 Workshop
The CyberWater2 workshop is a hands-on model training program led by the University of Pittsburgh, Indiana University Indianapolis, and CUAHSI. Participants will learn how to build, run, and adapt water science workflows in CyberWater through guided demonstrations and practical activities.
The workshop is designed to help participants become productive CyberWater users by emphasizing reproducible workflows, model integration, and scientific problem solving. The specific learning objectives for participants in this workshop are the following:
Learn how to navigate CyberWater interface and build workflows
Learn how to run a model simulation in CyberWater
Learn the components of the generic model agent toolkit and model integration
Learn how to use CyberWater to answer new scientific questions
Workshop Details
The workshop will consist of virtual training sessions paired with asynchronous, self-paced exercises that allow participants to independently apply concepts introduced during each session. The trainings will be held the week of September 21–25, 2026. Participants will attend live virtual sessions on Monday (9/21) and Wednesday (9/23), complete self-paced training exercises throughout the week, and reconvene for a final check-in on Friday (9/25).

Application Details
You must have access to a Windows operating system to complete the training exercises. The deadline to apply is August 28th.
There are two tracks to choose from:
- Training + Certificate/Stipend Track. Choose this track if you plan to attend all training events and work to complete the extra, asynchronous hands-on training exercises to be eligible to receive a $200 participant stipend.
- Participants must be affiliated with a US institution to receive the participant stipend. However, those not affiliated with a US institution are still eligible to complete the CyberWater training exercises.
- Training-Only Track. Choose this track if you plan to attend only training sessions and will not participate in the extra, asynchronous hands-on exercises.
- This track is not eligible to receive a $200 participant stipend.
