2023 CUAHSI Biennial

Posted Jun 22, 2023

CUAHSI would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2023 Biennial Colloquium, held from June 11-14 at the Granlibakken Resort in Tahoe City, CA. This was the first CUAHSI organized in-person Biennial since 2018. There were about 130 attendees, a mix of students and professionals, from academic institutions, government agencies, NGO’s as well as CUAHSI staff and the board of directors. The CUAHSI Biennial, traditionally, has been a more intimate space where the water community has gathered to share ideas, and this year was no different. The Granlibakken Resort, set in a beautiful natural location near Lake Tahoe, provided an environment with several places for people to gather, network and collaborate.

The meeting theme this year was, Discovering New Horizons in Water Science. Over the course of four days, there were three keynote speakers, twelve sessions, five workshops, twelve lighting talks and 39 poster presentations as well as one off-site field trip to the Tahoe Dam. Dr. Beverley Wemple and Dr. Adam Ward were honored during a Community Service Awards ceremony for their outstanding vision and leadership in the development of interdisciplinary research and educational opportunities in the water sciences. A copy of the full program can be viewed here.

CUAHSI is committed to advancing the excellence of the water science community by providing high-quality work and a welcoming environment for all and the 2023 Biennial Colloquium fulfilled this mission. This meeting was a platform that fostered sharing ideas for new ways of doing inclusive and collaborative research, seeing new perspectives, new knowledge frameworks, new ways of learning, new tools, and new metrics of success. We look forward to seeing what develops next!
