Community Awards
CUAHSI presents the Education & Engagement and the Community Service awards to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to hydrologic science education or to the CUAHSI organization and community.
These annual awards are open to nominees at any career stage, and self-nominations are encouraged. Nominations are evaluated on demonstrated impact, contribution to the water science community, and engagement with CUAHSI resources and programs.
Nominations are accepted from across the water science community, and nominees may come from any career stage. Self-nominations are accepted for both awards. Nominees for the Community Service Award must be affiliated with at least one CUAHSI member institution.
Access the nomination form here. The deadline to submit a nomination is August 31, 2026.
Education & Engagement Award
Advancing hydrologic science education.
The CUAHSI Education and Engagement Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to hydrologic science education and community engagement through activities that leverage CUAHSI resources. The award honors educators, researchers, and practitioners who incorporate CUAHSI programs, platforms, or datasets—such as HydroClient, HydroShare, HydroLearn, the CUAHSI Virtual University, workshops, Summer Institutes, or other CUAHSI-supported initiatives—into their educational and engagement efforts to advance hydrologic science and broaden participation in the water science community.
The award is presented annually, typically in conjunction with the CUAHSI community engagement event.
Award recipients will receive: (1) A formal award plaque; (2) Recognition at a CUAHSI Community Meeting, Event or Annual Membership Meeting; (3) Public announcement through CUAHSI communication channels.
Nominees must demonstrate significant contributions to hydrologic science education and training, with engagement activities that are closely integrated with these educational efforts. Central to eligibility is the effective use of CUAHSI resources and services, such as Hydrologic Information System, HydroShare, HydroLearn, and the CUAHSI Virtual University, workshops, or Summer Institutes, to develop, deliver, or enhance hydrologic science educational experiences. Contributions may include (but are not limited to):
Developing or leading educational or engagement activities relevant to hydrologic science; and/or
Creating educational materials that are publicly accessible; and/or
Designing learning experiences that incorporate CUAHSI data platforms, tools, or community resources.
Self-nominations are encouraged.
Both early-career and established professionals are eligible.
