HydroCS conducts research at the intersection of computational hydrology, hydrologic modeling, and scientific computing. The lab is seeking one PhD student prepared to contribute to the lab's research directions.

Current and anticipated research directions include:

* large-scale hydrologic and hydraulic modeling workflows,
* high-performance and scalable computing for hydrologic applications,
* reproducible computational workflows and open-source software development, and
* machine-learning-based surrogate and adaptive modeling strategies for hydrologic models.

HydroCS is seeking one PhD student prepared to contribute to the lab's research directions. The anticipated start date is Fall 2026, although Spring–Fall 2027 may be considered depending on timing and candidate circumstances.

Strong applicants should have a background in water resources engineering, computational hydrology, hydrologic modeling, or a closely related field, with demonstrated experience in programming and numerical modeling, and a strong interest in scientific computing, reproducible computational workflows, or open-source software development.
