1. Urban hydrology and water quality
2. Paleoclimate reconstructions using speleothems, dendrochronology, and dendrochemistry
3. Participatory research for community resilience
These positions are for one year and may be renewable for a second year. We are seeking persons to start in Fall 2025.
Responsibilities include
• Contribute to research focused on surface water, aquifers, cave systems, climate variability, paleo-environment proxies, and the resilience of water resources in urban and rural communities
• Perform geoscience and geochemical investigations, including the analysis of radiogenic and stable isotopes, trace elements, and emerging contaminants in water, soil, rock, and trees
• Participate in field sampling and monitoring campaigns, laboratory-based geochemical analysis, data analysis, and modeling research activities
• Collaborate with faculty, laboratory managers, graduate and undergraduate students, and community members
• Prepare and publish scientific papers to disseminate research findings
Required Qualifications
• Ph.D. in geosciences or related discipline, with a focus on geochemistry, hydrology, and/or paleoclimate.
• Proven experience in conducting and interpreting analyses of natural waters and carbonate geochemistry, including radiogenic and/or stable isotope measurements and/or emerging contaminants, in one or more of the three focus areas above
• Strong scientific writing skills, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.
