Opportunities
The Open Rivers Graduate Student Committee (GSC) welcomes participants from any university and any graduate program. Through the GSC, Open Rivers demonstrates our commitment to offering opportunities for graduate students to learn practical professional development skills that complement rigorous academic training. As a member of the Open Rivers Graduate Student Committee, you will have the opportunity to:

—Develop skills related to digital media and editorial work
—Explore the value of public scholarship for your own practice
—Possibly publish your own work for a public audience
—Review prominent works or events pertaining to water, place, and community
—Edit articles and provide feedback to authors
—Connect with interdisciplinary river-lovers
—Attend professional development workshops on public scholarship, digital media, grant writing, StoryMaps, and more based on student interests

As a member of the GSC, you’ll have the opportunity to immediately make an impact. We work with GSC members to shape projects that both benefit Open Rivers and align with each participant’s personal interests and goals.
