As a postdoctoral researcher at CUAHSI, Katherine Schlef aims to increase flood resilience by studying the atmospheric drivers of extreme floods across the United States with the goal of improving flood models. This work is being advised by Upmanu Lall at Columbia University. Katherine holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a B.S. in general engineering from Harvey Mudd College. Outside of work, Katherine enjoys hiking in Massachusetts’ Pioneer Valley, playing the flute, and reading.
