The GCE Data Toolbox
2014 Virtual Workshop Cyberseminar Series
- Wade Sheldon / University of Georgia, GCE LTER Information Manager
The GCE Data Toolbox is a comprehensive software framework for metadata-based processing, quality control and analysis of environmental data that is distributed as a free and open source add-on to the MATLAB technical computing environment. This software integrates metadata capture, creation and management with data processing, quality control and analysis to support the entire data management lifecycle from acquisition through publishing. I will demonstrate how the toolbox can be used alone as a light-weight data management solution, or integrated with other cyberinfrastructure to provide a more comprehensive solution. Examples of other tools successfully combined with the toolbox include Data Turbine, Kepler, R and the CUAHSI ODM/HIS. This software can therefore be leveraged in many ways to help researchers manage, analyze and distribute the data they collect.
CUAHSI's 2014 Virtual Workshop on Field Data Management Solutions!
The CUAHSI Water Data Center, the LTER Network Office, and the Critical Zone Observatory National Office are jointly sponsoring a Virtual Workshop entitled "Field Data Management Solutions" to share tools, techniques, and tricks for handling the ever increasing volumes of data that observatories and other field sites are generating.
A series of webinars will be held during September and October 2014 featuring speakers from LTER sites, the CZO data project, and CUAHSI Water Data Center to share their experiences with data management and to share tools that have been developed.
