Now accepting Hydroinformatics Innovation Fellowship applications! Apply here.
Application Deadline: October 11, 2019
CUAHSI is pleased to offer the Hydroinformatics Innovation Fellowship to support projects that will result in a hydroinformatics product to be disseminated to the CUAHSI community. Dissemination should occur within one year of funding. Scientists at U.S. universities and colleges are eligible for this grant. Preference will be given to early career faculty, postdocs, and graduate students.
Awardees will receive up to $5,000 for eligible expenses including: travel costs associated with acquiring new skills, site or reverse site visits, software or data licenses, access to cyberinfrastructure, dissemination costs, and student support. Awardees will be expected to comply with CUAHSI’s travel policies and will be required to submit a final itemized statement of costs.
Example products include software, including apps which can be integrated into CUAHSI’s Water Data Services; new data products of interest to the community, including data-rescue products; technical publications; or STEM curriculum. An example of a useful app might be a product which can operate on CUAHSI’s Hydrologic Information System or HydroShare data resources to produce some outcome useful to the community. Successful proposals will likely have more than one identified outcome. Priority will be given to proposals that focus on leveraging or extending CUAHSI's Water Data Services or other open source and open data resources.
Proposals should discuss existing work to date, major project milestones, licensing terms (for software, data, or publications), sustainability of outcome product(s), and target audience for outcome product(s). Please be specific about project milestones and goals, known challenges, and the audience for resulting product(s). If expected expenses are more than $5,000, please provide information on how the remainder will be funded. An itemized budget of all expected expenses is required, as is a brief data management plan. Data management plans, to the extent possible, should utilize CUAHSI’s Water Data Services.
CUAHSI will accept collaborative proposals for the Hydroinformatics Fellowship. Please identify a team leader in the proposal (you can use the term Principal Investigator or different semantics if you wish) who will be responsible for being the point of contact with CUAHSI throughout the grant. The team leader will be required to submit their CV and a letter of support from their advisor (if s/he is a graduate student) with the application.
