Cyberseminar Series: The Summer Institute Research Experience

November 30 at 1:00 pm ET:

The Summer Institute Research Experience: Highlights from Past CUAHSI National Water Center Summer Institute Research and 2019 Summer Institute Themes

Presented by Fred Ogden, NWC and Ehab Meselhe, The Water Institute of the Gulf

The Summer Institute is a collaborative program where students have the chance to work with professionals and faculty from across the hydrologic community.  One of the most important partnerships is that between student fellows and Theme Leader advisors. Theme Leaders have a unique role in that they are involved in the Summer Institute from beginning to end. They participate in the initial planning stages, help students form groups and interpret the themes during the first two training weeks of the SI, guide group research throughout the seven weeks, and assist in developing the final report and presentation.  This webinar will give insight into the Summer Institute from the Theme Leader perspective including highlights of past group projects, an overview of the project ideation process, benefits of participating in the SI, and a sneak peek into the 2019 Summer Institute themes.

CUAHSI's Cyberseminar Series:

2019 National Water Center Summer Institute

Hosted by Danielle Tijerina, CUAHSI

Next summer, CUAHSI will host the fifth National Water Center Innovators Program – Summer Institute. The Summer Institute (SI) is a collaborative research program between CUAHSI and the National Weather Service aimed at engaging the academic research community in the enhancement of the NOAA National Water Model. This webinar series will present information about the Summer Institute for prospective student participants, academic advisors, and others who want to learn about or become involved in the SI. In three Cyberseminars, we intend to give an overview of the Summer Institute experience from the participant perspective, information on the collaboration between CUAHSI and the NOAA National Water Center, examples of past research projects, and a sneak peek into the 2019 Summer Institute Themes. Presenters include past SI Fellows, National Water Center staff, Theme Leaders, and NCAR scientists.

All talks take place on Fridays at 1:00 p.m. ET.
