NRC Post-Doctoral Research Opportunity, NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center in Santa Cruz, California
We are interested in understanding the capacity of freshwater stream systems in California to support restoration or reintroduction of populations of Pacific salmon and steelhead, including prospects for future capacity in a changing climate. We have a research opportunity for a quantitative hydrological or ecological modeler to help us prepare and analyze broad-scale datasets for stream systems in California. The candidate would use advanced statistical models, existing hydrologic datasets, and/or relevant remote sensing data such as NAIP or MODIS to prepare spatially-explicit datasets on stream channel, riparian zone, and/or flow characteristics.
Interested candidates should contact the research advisor Dr. David A. Boughton prior to applying, and develop a short research proposal for the application.
For contact information and to apply, visit http://sites.nationalacademies.org/PGA/RAP/PGA_046584 and search for research opportunity RO# 26.03.50.C0157 using the advisor’s last name. Final Applications must be received by 5pm ET on August 1.
