Assistant Research Professdional, University of Alabama [TWO OPENINGS]

The University of Alabama (UA), in consortium with the University of Maryland and North Carolina State University, participates in the Cooperative Institute for Satellite and Earth Systems Studies (CISESS). Through this program, UA is seeking to employ two Assistant Research Professionals to co-locate and work collaboratively with NOAA’s National Water Center on UA’s campus.

One assistant research professional will specialize in GIS with research focus areas on: hydrologic modelling, algorithm development, and water prediction models. The position will be responsible for development of algorithms for processing large-scale geospatial data sets in support of hydrologic modelling efforts. The second assistant research professional will specialize as a software engineer. Desired focus areas include: Software development, Big Data, and water prediction models. The position will be responsible for developing production-grade software for processing large-scale geospatial data for analysis and visualization of national hydrologic model outputs.
