Graduate Programs at the University of Arizona

in 2016, two very distinguished departments at the University of Arizona - Atmospheric Sciences and Hydrology & Water Resources-dissolved their disciplinary boundaries to develop new and bold strategies to characterize, monito, and model the hydrosphere. Our new vision is to lead the workld in integrated and quantitative hydrologic and atmospheric sciences and to develop the knowledge needed to solve Earth's water, hydrogeologic, weather, and climate related problems.

We offer graduate programs-combined Accelerated BS/MS, MS, and PHD-in Atmospheric Sciences, Hydrology, and Hydrometeorology. Research Focus Areas offer exceptional depth and breadth of study in atmospheric sciences, environmental hydrology, planetary science, subsurface hydrology, surface water hydrology, terrestrial hydrometeorology, and water resources and systems analysis (see website for subarea and faculty expertise within the focus area).

Today, we combine both the historical and existing strengths developed within both departments to build a new foundation upon which to build future research and training needs. Going forward in the 21st century, we embrace the need for both regional and global perspectives in climate change, water resources, and other environmental issues that affect society. We're looking for motivated students to help us pursue these goals. One thing is for certain: We're better together.
