CUAHSI's membership includes over 130 U.S universities, non-profit organizations, and international affiliates who recognize the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative thinking to advance water science and solve society's most pressing water issues. CUAHSI's member representatives guide the direction of CUAHSI by electing CUAHSI's Board of Directors and voting on important business items.

Why Become a CUAHSI Member? 

Through CUAHSI membership, your university or organization can: 

  • Support the growing national and international water science community; 
  • Contribute to innovations in community modeling, data science, and education;
  • Represent your organization within the CUAHSI community and serve in various leadership roles;
  • Participate in the annual CUAHSI Membership Meeting, helping to make important community decisions about CUAHSI's future; and
  • Receive registration discounts on CUAHSI events and workshops. Anyone affiliated with a CUAHSI member organization is eligible for the member discount. 

Membership Information

CUAHSI has four classes of membership: University Member, Non-profit Affiliate Member, International Affiliate Member, and Corporate Affiliate Member.

Membership dues are to be paid by June 30, 2020. Invoices for 2021 annual dues will be sent out in early January 2021.

University Member

University Members include single or multiple campuses of multi-campus university systems, chartered in the United States with graduate degree programs in water science and a major commitment to research in that field. 

General Requirements for University Members: 

  • A letter from a dean or higher-ranking university official requesting CUAHSI membership. An example letter template is provided for reference. 
  • A one-time $2,000 membership initiation fee. 
  • Annual dues of $200 per year, payable up to five years in advance. Organizations that pay five years in advance will receive a 10% discount (5 years for $900). 
  • Up to three designated faculty members appointed as CUAHSI representatives. Representatives are expected to participate in CUAHSI's annual membership meeting, act as CUAHSI liaisons within their community, and assist with disseminating CUAHSI information and opportunities. 
  • University Member Representatives are eligible to run for the CUHASI Board of Directors. 
Non-profit Affiliate Member

Non-profit Affiliate Members include colleges, universities, research institutions, and other not-for-profit organizations in the United States that are engaged in water science and closely related fields, but do  not grant advances degrees. 

General requirements for Non-profit Affiliate Members: 

  • A letter to the CUAHSI Executive Director, signed by a dean or an official of similar or higher rank, requesting CUAHSI membership. An example letter is provided for reference. 
  • A one-time $500 membership initiation fee. There are no annual dues for Non-profit Affiliate Members. 
  • one designated faculty member appointed as a CUAHSI Representative. Representatives are expected to participate in CUAHSI's annual membership meeting, act as CUAHSI liaisons within their community, and assist with disseminating CUAHSI information and opportunities. 
  • Note that Non-profit Affiliate Member Representatives are not eligible to run for the CUAHSI Board of Directors. 
International Affiliate Member

International Affiliate Members are universities, research institutions, and other not-for-profit organizations outside the United States that are engaged in water science and closely related fields. 

General requirements for International Affiliate Members: 

  • A letter to the CUAHSI Executive Director, signed by a dean or an official of similar or higher rank requesting CUAHSI membership. An example letter is provided for reference. 
  • A one-time $500 membership initiation fee. There are no annual dues for International; Affiliate Members. 
  • One designated contact appointed as a CUAHSI Representative. Representatives are expected to participate in CUAHSI's annual membership meeting, act as CUAHSI liaisons within their community, and assist with disseminating CUAHSI information and opportunities. 
  • Note that International Affiliate Member Representatives are not eligible to run for for the CUAHSI Board of Directors. 

The membership initiation fee for universities within Tier 1 and 2 countries as determined by the World Bank income rankings will be waived, provided that the membership is sponsored by a CUAHSI Member Representative at an existing Member University. The sponsor must provide the name of a representative who holds a permanent appointment at the institution requesting membership. 

Corporate Affiliate Member

Corporate Affiliate Members are organizations with expertise and interests in science or technology issues that support CUAHSI's mission of advancing water science and education. 

General requirements for Corporate Affiliate Members: 

  • A letter to CUAHSI's Executive Director, from an executive officer requesting CUAHSI membership. An example letter is provided for reference. 
  • A one-time $2,000 membership initiation fee. 
  • The annual due for corporate affiliate members are based on the size of the organization: 
    • Fewer that 50 employees - $1,000 per year
    • 50-1,000 employees - $2,500 per year
    • More than 1,000 employees - $5,000 per year
Membership Meetings

CUAHSI holds an annual membership meeting every December. All CUAHSI member representatives are highly encouraged to attend because this is a business meeting with official business.
