CUAHSI Member Types

Universities, including single or multiple campuses of multi-campus university systems, chartered in the United States with graduate degree programs in hydrologic sciences and a major commitment to research in that field may become Members of the Corporation. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 1}
An institution applying for membership must be qualified as an educational and not-for-profit institution recognized as exempt for Federal income tax purposes as an organization described in Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3) according to criteria adopted by the Board of Directors. Qualified institutions may be elected as Members by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members of the entire Board of Directors, or by unanimous vote of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 2}
Membership from educational institutions requires a letter (PDF | Word) from a dean or higher agreeing to pay the one-time $2,000.00 initiation fee and annual dues at the currently assessed rate of $200.00 (payable up to five years in advance) and designate a university contact. Research institutions and other not-for-profit organizations in the United States that are engaged in hydrologic science and closely related fields, but that do not otherwise qualify for CUAHSI membership, may be elected as Non-profit Affiliates for an indefinite term by the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the entire Board of Directors or by a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. Once admitted, each Affiliate shall designate a Representative to participate in all activities in the governance of the Corporation, other than serving on the Board of Directors or serving in a position specifically restricted to said Directors. Each Non-profit Affiliate shall have one vote in elections and on all motions put before the membership. The rights and privileges of Affiliates with respect to participation in the scientific activities of the Corporation shall be set forth according to policies established by the Board of Directors. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 3}
The Board of Directors of CUAHSI approved a one-time initiation fee for affiliates of $500.00. The Board will evaluate each applicant to be a non-profit affiliate member according to the following criterion: That an applicant’s mission, its funding sources, and its suite of current and past activities pose no significant potential for the perception that the applicant could suffer from a lack of scientific objectivity.

Institutions not chartered in the United States may be elected as International Affiliates for an indefinite term by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members of the entire Board of Directors or by a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. The designated representative of each International Affiliate will be able to participate in all activities in the governance of CUAHSI other than serving on the Board of Directors or serving in a position specifically restricted to said Directors. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 4}
The Board of Directors has approved a one-time international affiliate initiation fee of $500.00 for International Affiliates. The Board of Directors of CUAHSI will evaluate each applicant to be an international affiliate member according to the following criterion: That an applicant’s mission, its funding sources, and its suite of current and past activities pose no significant potential for the perception that the applicant could suffer from a lack of scientific objectivity.

For-profit organizations and businesses may be elected as Corporate Affiliates for an indefinite term by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members of the entire Board of Directors. Once admitted, each Corporate Affiliate shall designate a Representative, who shall serve on the Corporate Advisory Board as described in Article VII, Section 10. Corporate Affiliates may attend membership meetings, but their presence does not count toward quorum nor do they have the right to vote on motions before the membership or to propose motions. The rights and privileges of Corporate Affiliates with respect to participation in the scientific activities of the Corporation shall be set forth according to policies established by the Board of Directors. The Board is authorized to establish more than one class of Corporate Affiliation membership. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 5}
The Board of Directors has approved a one-time corporate affiliate initiation fee of $2000.00 for Corporate Affiliates. Further, an annual fee based on the size of the organization to be determined by the Board of Directors on a three-year basis.
Corporate affiliates have the following privileges of membership
- Company Logo with click through to website page of your choice
- Seat on Corporate Affiliate Advisory Board with chair of this Board serving as ex officio member of CUAHSI Board of Directors
- Recognition at annual CUAHSI Townhall meeting at Fall AGU at no charge
- Recognition at CUAHSI Biennial Meeting at no charge
- Priority and reduced rates for exhibition space at CUAHSI meetings/workshops where exhibitors are present
- Member's registration rate at any CUAHSI meeting
