University Members

Universities, including single or multiple campuses of multi-campus university systems, chartered in the United States with graduate degree programs in hydrologic sciences and a major commitment to research in that field may become Members of the Corporation. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 1}

An institution applying for membership must be qualified as an educational and not-for-profit institution recognized as exempt for Federal income tax purposes as an organization described in Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3) according to criteria adopted by the Board of Directors. Qualified institutions may be elected as Members by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members of the entire Board of Directors, or by unanimous vote of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 2}

Membership from educational institutions requires a letter (PDF | Word) from a dean or higher agreeing to pay the one-time $2,000.00 membership fee and designate a university contact. For more information, contact CUAHSI.

Affiliate Members

Research institutions and other not-for-profit organizations in the United States that are engaged in research and development in hydrologic science and closely related fields, but that do not otherwise qualify for CUAHSI membership, may be elected as Affiliates for an indefinite term by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members of the entire Board of Directors or by a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. The designated representative of each Affiliate will be able to participate in all activities in the governance of CUAHSI other than serving on the Board of Directors or serving in a position specifically restricted to said Directors. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 3}

The Board of Directors of CUAHSI approved a one-time membership fee for affiliates of $500.00. The Board will evaluate each applicant to be an affiliate member according to the following criterion: That an applicant’s mission, its funding sources, and its suite of current and past activities pose no significant potential for the perception that the applicant could suffer from a lack of scientific objectivity.

Affiliate membership requires a confirmation letter (PDF | Word) agreeing to pay the one-time $500.00 affiliate membership fee and to designate a university/organization contact. For more information, contact CUAHSI.

International Affiliate Members

Institutions not chartered in the United States may be elected as International Affiliates for an indefinite term by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members of the entire Board of Directors or by a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. The designated representative of each International Affiliate will be able to participate in all activities in the governance of CUAHSI other than serving on the Board of Directors or serving in a position specifically restricted to said Directors. {CUAHSI Bylaws, Article II, section 4}
