Water Resources Research (WRR) Reprint Volume - Coming Soon

CUAHSI has compiled a reprint volume of vision papers and synthesis papers from Water Resources Research (WRR). This volume is now in its final composition stages and is about to be sent to the printers. In addition to the soft cover version, a CD is being prepared. We expect the volume to be ready for distribution in early October. Copies of the CD will also be available at GSA in Colorado later in October and, of course, at the 2007 Fall AGU in San Francisco in early December.

Apply for Early Career Fellowships at Hydrologic Science Synthesis Groups

CUAHSI announces the inaugural round of funding to support travel expenses for visiting researchers to participate in research with CUAHSI Hydrologic Science Synthesis Groups. The goals of this program are to enhance collaborations between these groups and the greater hydrologic science community and to provide early career scientists with an opportunity to bolster their professional development in the area of synthesis research. Four to six $5000.00 grants are available to hydrologic scientists to cover travel related expenses for research activities that are cross-cutting, compelling and can generate transformative outcomes in the field of hydrologic science in collaboration with the following program areas: (1) Water Cycle Dynamics in a Changing Environment: Advancing Hydrologic Science through Synthesis and (2) Humans Transforming the Water Cycle: Community-based Activities in Hydrologic Science. See the Notice of Opportunity on the CUAHSI Web site under "Funding Opportunities" for additional information.

Seeking Collaborators for HMF—Geophysics

CUAHSI is seeking collaborators for the Geophysics Module of its Hydrologic Measurement Facility (HMF-Geophysics), based on experience from an NSF-funded pilot project. The objective of HMF-Geophysics is to enable hydrologists to better use near-surface geophysical techniques as an integral part of their research. The primary service of HMF-Geophysics is to perform short-term feasibility studies to assess the applicability of various geophysical techniques for hydrologic problems. Additional services include consulting with hydrologists on possible approaches; education of the hydrologic community about near-surface geophysics through presentations at professional meetings, development of educational materials, and organization of workshops; and identification and engagement of geophysicists at other institutions who are interested in collaborating with hydrologists on projects. See the Notice of Opportunity on the CUAHSI Web site under "Funding Opportunities" for additional information.

Nominations Open for CUAHSI Board of Directors

Jim Shuttleworth has agreed to chair and Rich Vogel and Steve Gorelick will serve on the committee. The Nominating Committee shall prepare a slate of one or more nominees for each opening on the Board of Directors to be filled. There will be five slots on the Board (the nominee must be a CUAHSI representative) as well as the secretary and treasurer (open to non-reps). You can nominate yourself or your colleagues to the members of the Nominating Committee by October 3rd. To read more about the formal process, please refer to the CUAHSI By-Laws, Articles III, Section 4 and VIII, Section 4.
