CUAHSI Visiting Scientist Project

The Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI) is considering requesting support for travel grants to allow hydrologic scientists to visit Washington, DC for up to one month. During this time, the scientist would present a series of lectures at government agencies such as the National Science Foundation, US Geological Survey, NASA, and NOAA. Opportunities to consult with program managers from various agencies about the future of hydrologic science and to work with CUAHSI staff on CUAHSI programs would also be provided. The intent of the visit is to provide government agencies with information on cutting-edge scientific research and to learn about the policy and science issues of greatest concern to these agencies.

The purpose of this RFI is to assess demand for this project. Would you be interested in participating? Is one-month the right length for such a visit? Is a shorter or longer-term more desirable? Is travel and subsistence support adequate compensation or would salary support be required?

Please provide the indicated information on the email form at exdir@cuahsi.org no later than July 2, 2007. No one will be selected based on this information. Rather, the response will provide more specific examples of the utility of the project. If this project is included in the CUAHSI renewal proposal and if that proposal is funded, a formal application process will be implemented in late 2008.
